Biography
Yueheng Lin is a Maryland-based pianist and educator drawn to musical narrative, tonal color, and emotional expression. She was awarded Second Prize in the piano category at the 2021 Tiziano Rossetti International Music Competition. Her performances have taken her to venues including Carnegie Hall in New York, Berkman Recital Hall at The Hartt School, and the Wuhan Conservatory of Music Concert Hall.
She holds a Master of Music degree in Piano Performance from The Hartt School, where she studied with Marija Stroke, and a Bachelor of Music degree from the Wuhan Conservatory of Music.
Performance & Collaborative Experience
In addition to her work as a soloist, Yueheng has extensive experience in chamber music and collaborative piano. During her graduate studies at The Hartt School, she performed in three chamber trios, appearing in recitals and participating in ensemble masterclasses.
Yueheng also worked as a collaborative pianist with the Simsbury Light Opera Company on its production of Gilbert and Sullivan’s Ruddigore, taking part in the full rehearsal process and working closely with the vocalists on their musical preparation.
She has also participated in masterclasses with pianists including Eduardus Halim, Susan Starr, and Eteri Andjaparidze. She currently studies with pianist Larissa Dedova, continuing to refine her artistic voice and expand her work as a performer.
Teaching & Philosophy
Yueheng has taught children, teenagers, and adults across a wide range of levels in both China and the United States. Before moving to Maryland, she maintained a private piano studio in Wuhan, where her students earned top prizes in regional competitions, including the Yangtze River Cup and the Wuhan Arts Talent Competition, and successfully completed ABRSM and RCM examinations. She currently teaches from her private piano studio in Rockville, Maryland, near North Bethesda.
At the heart of Yueheng’s teaching is the belief that every student grows in a unique way. She adapts her approach to each student’s strengths, pace, and goals, helping them build technical confidence, listen more deeply, and express music with greater freedom and individuality. She hopes that every student will not only learn to play the piano, but also discover the beauty of music and form a lasting relationship with it.
